Doxycycline
Doxycycline is a prescription antibiotic intended for the treatment of infections caused by bacteria (for example, urinary tract infections). Therefore, you are not supposed to attempt this medicine if you have some viral infection (caused by a virus), such as cold or flu. Make sure you report any other medications you are taking or intend to take directly to your health care provider. This way your doctor will be able to prescribe most efficient dose that will not cause interference with any of the following: colestipol, tretinoin, drugs containing bismuth subsalicylate, zinc, isotretinoin, calcium, minerals, vitamin and mineral supplements, blood thinners, iron, magnesium, penicillin antibiotics, and cholestyramine. Sunlight exposure is not recommended. Nor should you use sunlamps or tanning beds, as this medicine has been reported to make your skin more sensitive to sunlight. Serious side effects that can be sometimes experienced include (you will need to stop taking doxycycline and report them to your doctor): severe blistering, flu symptoms, fast heart rate, unusual weakness, body aches, confusion, loss of appetite, dark colored urine, dizziness, yellowed skin, nausea and vomiting, chills, blurred vision, and severe headache.
